Hello, I am Carrie and my husband, Max and I live on a farm south of Cairo. I have four daughters, a stepdaughter, and a stepson. I also have six precious grandchildren. My husband Max and I love to travel. I also like to quilt, paint, and spending time with my family. Max and I belong to the Methodist Church and we like helping out in natural disasters and participating in mission work. I graduated in 1989, with my Bachelors of Science Degree in K-9 Elementary Education, from Newman University. In 2005 I graduated with a Masters Degree in Technology Education from Fort Hays State University. My first teaching job was at Stafford Schools where I taught middle school for fourteen years. I taught 6th through 8th-grade Math, Language Arts, and Social Studies. I also taught Kindergarten through 5th-grade art twice a week. While teaching at Stafford I was involved with several math and technology grants. In August of 2012, I was offered a job at Cunningham teaching 4th grade. I absolutely LOVE teaching in the fourth grade here at Cunningham. I always thought I loved teaching middle school kids until I taught 4th graders. They are so fun, loving, and eager to learn individuals. My favorite subjects to teach are Math, Science, and STEM. I really love teaching at Cunningham and I try to give back to the school and be involved with extracurricular activities. I am apart of the Professional Development Committee here at Cunningham. I also attend Curriculum meetings in Hutchinson once a month. I am apart of the KESA team here in Cunningham and I am also on Medicine Lodge's KESA team. I am happy to be apart of the KESA school accreditation process, I feel like it keeps me up to date with what is going on in our school. I also am a High School Forensics Coach. Our season is a long season from January to May, so it keeps me very busy. My six years at Cunningham have been very rewarding. I love teaching the fourth graders and watching them grow into young adolescents. I am always amazed when I hear students share the same excitement and passion with math and science that I have. I love those Ah..Ha.. moments kids have when they finally get it! It makes me smile and my heart sing. I look forward to many more years of teaching students to have the passion for learning and succeeding after graduation.
