Our primary focus will be on the novel. We will read a variety of novels, as well as short stories, and plays. Students will complete written responses and essays over the material that they will read. We will work on our grammar and usage skills by using the online program No Red Ink. Students are expected to earn ten AR points each quarter.
1st quarter: Romeo and Juliet and The Outsiders
2nd quarter: The Odyssey, the Hero's Journey novel project
3rd quarter: The Lord of the Flies and short stories that focus on the theme of survival
4th quarter: Fahrenheit 451, Uglies
